One compelling stat from 2025 shows the full story. In regular-season games where Cook had over 100 scrimmage yards, the Buffalo Bills’ record was 11-1. Games where Cook didn’t have 100 scrimmage yards? 1-4. When Cook performs, the Bills are dominant. When Cook doesn’t perform, the Bills struggle. Despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the league, this stat shows that the Bills still need their run game. And that’s why James Cook is the player they simply can’t win without.

And Cook’s take on 2026? “‘Bring a Super Bowl here. That’s what I’m trying to do,’” [2] Cook shares this mindset with every Buffalo player and fan.
